Nice day for a white wedding

Nothing says wedding like the color white. An all-white wedding is light, fresh, elegant, and truly romantic and, if executed with the right design touch, is anything but boring. In fact, selecting white as your color scheme is a bold choice and will make a real statement if planned carefully. I’ve outlined the essential elements to focus on while curating your white wedding vision.

The Venue

Selecting a venue to complement your white wedding theme is the first step to take when designing your wedding. The venue is the backdrop for your whole day and will set the tone. The type of venue I recommend for an all-white wedding is one that offers a blank slate with minimum colors such as a loft, a tent, a stone courtyard, a barn, or a sandy white beach.

The Stationery

Keep it simple when selecting your invites. As this will be the first introduction to your wedding for guests, establish your white vision right from the start with neutral and fresh invitations. If you are a more modern couple, a letterpress invite with silver foil is the way to go. If you prefer a more traditional and whimsical look, consider incorporating lace.

The Flowers

Flower selection can contribute greatly to establishing and realizing your white wedding vision. The good news is there are so many white flowers from which to choose, such as roses, orchids, peonies, hydrangea, ranunculus, baby’s breath, and tulips.

The Fabrics

This might seem like an obvious choice … a white wedding needs white linens. Very true, but why not select white linens with texture or pattern to create visual interest on your guest tables?

The Decorations

It’s all about statement pieces when it comes to selecting your white wedding decorations. Since white is a subtle color choice, go bold with your decorations, such as chandeliers, lanterns, and draping of white fabric.

The Apparel

You’ve got the white dress, but what about having the men in your wedding dress all in white suits? (There are ways to do this without looking cheesy.) If you are committed to going all-white, select white for everyone involved in your wedding party. Want to take it one step further? Ask guests to wear white to achieve a total white wedding dream.
